Taxacom: New European Journal of Taxonomy portal in GBIF

This new portal  could allow other journals to follow suit, and shows the huge amount of data hidden in our scientific output. 

Currently ca 53,000 journal articles have been uploaded to GBIF by Plazi. They are complementing GBIF's focus on occurrences with their citation in articles, and thus providing a way from an occurrence via the material citation to the taxonomic treatment and article, or the collecting countries, collections and more.  

In 2024 a total of 52,000 figures, 58,000 taxonomic treatments, including 8,200 new species, 2,300 with a Zoobank ID, from 5,200 articles have been annotated and made available and building the foundation of the EJT portal at GBIF.
