I would like to find a link to the publication of Hemming 1937 where the
dates for Herrich-Schäffer's work were explained.
In the assumption that Herrich-Schäffer volume 5 pp. 1-72 were published
in 1853 on the same date: Aplotes was regarded as a junior synonym of
Metriotes on p. 48, and not made available at this occasion (failure to
comply with Art. 11.5).
In the key the author had only used Aplotes and did not mention
Metriotes, but in the main text he used Metriotes and rejected the usage
of Aplotes.
Not an incorrect original spelling because on p. 48 the author clearly
rejected the usage of Aplotes, and regarded Metriotes as valid.
If Aplotes in Herrich-Schäffer's sense had not been made available
later, the coleopteran name Aplotes Chevrolat, 1855 can be used.
If this helps for this case.
Will try to look on the others.
Best wishes
Francisco
