Global vicariance of the Coenonymphina butterflies (Lepidoptera:
Satyrinae). News of the Lepidopterists' Society 64: 134-136.
I can provide a copy of the article, or it can be accessed at

and then 2023, then issue 3.
The article represents the traditional center of origin molecular dispersal
approach as being 'rotten to the core'. Of course this is rather strong
stuff, but either it is or it is not. The Coenonymphina study is
empirically based, whereas the transmogrification of fossil calibrations to
actual or maximal ages is a matter of existential belief, and the area
analyses are based on entities that are fabrications - they have no natural
existence. But so far, the molecular theorists just dismiss out of hand or
ignore the biogeographic evidence and just carry on as usual. So it's time
to make the pointed comment I think. 'Science' that is not empirically
defended is not science.
On a more positive note, the paper makes reference to the value of a museum
record contributing critical information for the biogeographic synthesis.
That may be useful for those interested in documenting the role of research
collections.
