Dear colleagues,

I have a few published denominations that were recently put into question
and some may need to be corrected, but I have some doubts about my
argumentation. Perhaps some of you could please check whether my
interpretation of the Code is correct?

*Entomobrya addita* Jordana & Greenslade,*[1]* <#_ftn1>. Nom. nov.

      https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fzoobank.org%2F45DCC3DE-D995-4B43-A306-31DB475AD3A9&data=05%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C8b1c2cdeab9d4375614308db2d602108%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C638153663137870521%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=Yz4C6xTxP96hMpR1MeRKbS9Me4n46WfafyvbwoWtFtk%3D&reserved=0

Syn.: *E. additae, *Jordana & Greenslade, 2020, incorrect
denomination.

      Dis: Australia:QLD, Lambs Head, 10 km W of Edmonton;

Etymology: “added” to the catalog of species of Australia

1) According to article 11.9.1.1 of the ICZN (an adjective or
participle in the nominative singular), it should be *Entomobrya
addita *instead
of *Entomobrya additae.*

*Entomobrya barogi*[1] <#_ftn1> Baquero & Jordana, Nom. nov.

Syn: *Entomobrya barogii* Baquero & Jordana, 2015 in Baquero *et al*,
2015, incorrect denomination.

Etymology: from Barog, a locality in India.

1) According to article 11.9.1.3. of the ICZN (a noun in the genitive
case (e.g. *rosae, sturionis, thermopylarum, galliae, sanctipauli,
sanctaehelenae, cuvieri, merianae, smithorum*). As the species is named
after the type locality(Barog) and it is a noun, the genitive case would be
*barogi*.

 *Entomobrya imber* Jordana & Greenslade[1] <#_ftn1>.Nom. nov.

      http://zoobank.org:act:25782C02-4310-4C74-B706-583169A2C796

Syn : *Entomobrya imbre* Jordana & Greenslade, 2020, incorrect
denomination

      Etymology: captured by bark
spraying

1) This word is the ablative of *imber imbris* declension 3, it is of
the masculine gender and we put it in ablative singular (*imbre* which
means by spray, from spray, at spray) which in my opinion was already
correct. However, according to 11.9.1.2. “a noun in the nominative singular
standing in apposition to the generic name (as in *Struthio camelus*,
*Cercopithecus
diana*)”, could be *Entomobrya imber*, *Entomobrya* (feminine) *imber*
(spray) masculine in opposition, or by 11.9.1.3. “a noun in the genitive
case (e.g. *rosae*, *sturionis*, *thermopylarum*, *galliae*, *sanctipauli*,
*sanctaehelenae*, *cuvieri*, *merianae*, *smithorum*)” then* E. imbris.*

*Entomobrya ludens* Jordana & Greenslade,[1] <#_ftn1> Nom. nov.

Syn: *Entomobrya ludimus* Jordana & Greenslade, 2020

1) *Entomobrya ludimus* is how we called it, but *ludimus* is the
first person plural indicative of the verb *ludo* (to play). The specific
word should be the participle since the word cannot be a verb (article
11.9.1.1) and then the correct name would be *Entomobrya ludens.*

*Entomobrya militum* Jordana & Greenslade, 2020[1] <#_ftn1>.

https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fzoobank.org%2FNomenclaturalActs%2F7dc4bf94-2069-489c-8bef-2e8264c61919&data=05%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C8b1c2cdeab9d4375614308db2d602108%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C638153663137870521%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=25SYMQyZ3C85LXfFg41fu3et4wERY%2BWSIpS4bmtT%2FSU%3D&reserved=0

1) I think that this name is correct. The etymology refers to its
location adjacent to Department of Defense offices (“military”: *miles,
militis*). We put it in the genitive plural *militum* (of the military)
following article 11.9.1.3 “a noun in the genitive case (eg. *rosae,
sturionis, thermopylarum, galliae, sanctipauli, sanctaehelenae, cuvieri,
merianae, smithorum*)”
*Entomobrya nigerrima* Jordana & Greenslade, Nom. nov.[1] <#_ftn1>

https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fzoobank.org%2FNomenclaturalActs%2F57F94DF7-4379-4D1A-994E-2ACE89FB9C60&data=05%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C8b1c2cdeab9d4375614308db2d602108%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C638153663137870521%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=2G9bDR4VL26vOyEbviV%2B4Cgj1Z10zII%2BjRd7JuF03wQ%3D&reserved=0

Syn. *Entomobrya virgata* v. *nigrella* Womersley, 1934, nec.
Latzel, 1917–18.

*Entomobrya niger* Jordana & Greenslade, 2020.

1) *Entomobrya niger* does not agree with the code, the epithet being
an adjective (*niger nigra nigrum*) cannot be opposed to *Entomobrya* as
masculine. Since *Entomobrya nigra* is a preoccupied name, it should be put
as a different name and I propose *Entomobrya nigerrima*, the superlative
that is not occupied.

*Entomobrya potterae* Jordana & Greenslade, 2020[1] <#_ftn1>.

https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fzoobank.org%2FNomenclaturalActs%2F083DA621-0976-4AC3-8006-58340FFCE938&data=05%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C8b1c2cdeab9d4375614308db2d602108%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C638153663137870521%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=XB3L9hZ4y34rN2gm5r9HSVk7Prayn4Ls8CjHzXxZuGI%3D&reserved=0

1) *Entomobrya potterae*, was dedicated to a lady who liked to work
with clay (pottery) and whose nickname was "Potter", but this etymology was
not collected in the manuscript due to an error. Therefore the Etymology:
"Named for the completeness of its chaetotaxy "should be changed to "The
species is dedicated to a lady who had the nickname Potter because of her
fondness for working with clay."

*Entomobrya promontorium* Jordana & Greenslade, 2020[1] <#_ftn1>.

1) I think the denomination is correct because *promontorium* means
promontory, peak, ridge… (Etymology: “Named for the prominent rock
formation on which the species was found.”), As it is a neutral name in
the nominative, it can go with *Entomobrya* following article 11.9.1.2. “a
noun in the nominative singular standing in opposition to the generic name
(as in *Struthio camelus*, *Cercopithecus diana*)”.
Thanks in Advance
