Taxacom: demystifying gender agreement ( was Re: Removals of offending scientific names)

George knows me too. I was taught Latin at a public school (German school, so really public) very well for seven years, and the last three years I hated - it was just too long 😊. But it helps so much with reading papers in Romance languages, not only with gender agreement, so I appreciate that I had to do it. It is not completely useless. Well, I appreciate the first four years of it.

You know me George - and I WAS taught Latin (badly) at school - albeit very badly and a long time ago at a very poor but pretentious private school!

Sorry, but it isn't widely taught any more. Very few people in the world as a whole are taught Latin! I wasn't, and in fact no one I know was. In the Victorian times in the UK everyone was taught it, but that died out a very, very long time ago. It really isn't useful or relevant in the modern world.
