There's a scriptural snapper - "Judge not, lest ye be judged" - and the 
principle of priority embodies that principle. Those who propose to 
"police" the names used for organisms have no concept of the chaos their 
proposals would unleash. In responding to those who would fret about the 
meaning of names, we should remind them that we abandoned that 200 years 
ago, and that this abandonment was a major element in making biological 
systematics the most successful global human enterprise.
