Taxacom: Calotheca, insect or protozoan, or both?

Hi all,

I checked for "Calotheca" in my own holdings and discovered a few wrinkles,
now corrected as needed:

First, Rod and Mary are correct, Calotheca Thomsen & Moestrup, 1983 (the
choanoflagellate) is preoccupied in zoology by Calotheca Heyden, 1887 (a
beetle), however is in current use (and should therefore be replaced).
Choanoflagellates have occasionally been treated as algae in the past, but
that is probably irrelevant here, since by 1983 they were being treated
under zoological nomenclature.

Second, I had Calotheca (the grass) with the authority of Palisot de
Beauvois (via a copy of GRIN from 2011), however PdB was correcting an
earlier incorrect spelling of Devaux dating from 1810, so the corrected
spelling retains the original authorship and should be given as Devaux,
1810. According to Plants of the World Online as at now, Calotheca Devaux
is currently considered a synonym of Chascolytrum Desvaux, 1810

Third, I had both Calotheca (the grass) and Chascolytrum as synonyms of
Briza, but Chascolytrum is presently an accepted genus according to POWO

Fourth, POWO has an additional instance of Calotheca in Poacaeae which I
did not have (and not in Index Nominum Genericorom or GRIN),
namely Calotheca Sprengel, 1817, a junior homonym in botany, listed as a
synonym of Aeluropus Trinius, 1822 (now added to my own system).

Onwards and upwards (!)

Regards - Tony
