[Taxacom] Fwd: Any suggestions of open source monitoring software/web sites that stores and makes available location images?

Hi Mary,
Someone here in Melbourne, Australia began such an image project in 2008. His name is Martin Fluker and the project is called "Fluker Posts" (http://www.flukerpost.com/ ).
Martin has selected a series of locations where he has dug in a wooden post to about chest high. On top of these posts are two small pieces of wood set at a right angle which forms a "camera cradle". The posts and camera cradle ensure similar orientated images are taken. Anyone walking past the Fluker Post is invited to place their camera into the cradle, take a photo and send Martin the image. Martin then assembles the images by time and posts them on his Fluker Posts website.
Here are some examples:
Beach images at Sea Grit, New Jersey: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipP6-dVMux0EFAq28HzqJ6n9y5CfSzoSOx3DZ_PstodrfjAZ4rC6MXp4G0vPqB5dlw?key=QkdxY0dWbW53XzZHMldHdzZTRzJxSFczNGFNend3
A track in the Brisbane Ranges National Park: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipMmyVarvMFe94UcADQksxeNvxX2nMteYPUCkVMC-3xDyvLURaFNMlJ4_S2ISPUTTA?key=aDhiSjJwendEOUJGSVFJT3R2QXJxZW1wNlpoSXVR
A creek in the Gunbower Forest: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPMwfH8Ux2h91oBB8s375oYXThFZr3KIobEF2NuTxwEeXs70PKgcd5OQhraxnPnwg?key=SjgydVZUOEVLaVpJYUpfVE9BSDh3YUdmVUV2TVZ3
Fluker Posts have certainly begun many conversations about citizen science documenting change

Yes Tony, I greatly appreciate your sorting through what is involved and everyone's suggestions.
Do I want to do it? Did we want to start digitizing specimen data? Do people want to make voucher specimens?
The part that I can see the most value for right now is monitoring beaches, maybe standardized photographs after storms and/or once a ?week, ?month. Do I want to do it? Not particularly but if a school science club or a group of citizens wanted to start doing it, I would really like to be able to point them to a site that would maximize the value of their efforts.
Mary

Tony, You're talking to at least one other person --me. So thanks.
Mary opened up Pandora's Box --and justifiably so even if that perhaps wasn't her intent.
Tony is describing the evil stuff that's contained therein --in particular, the Evil Information God.........
Mary, are you sure you want to "... standardized images of a location and saving them to a web site, with appropriate metadata, so that they could be used to track changes over time at that location"?
