[Taxacom] Fwd: Any suggestions of open source monitoring software/web sites that stores and makes available location images?

Hi Ken, Mary, all,
Thanks for the example with the Fluker Posts images. I notice that throws
up another "free" image storage solution i.e. Google Photos (released 2015)
with the images retrievable via hyperlinks. However (unless I have missed
something) there does not appear to be a way to search across the entire
repository, only across photos you have uploaded yourself, which kind of
defeats the purpose of persistent image/data storage for others to
browse/search in the future :)
For example try https://photos.google.com/search/forest (or anything else),
I could not get anything to return...
Georeferenced photos can also be added to Google Maps, where they will be
accessible (to anyone) via a pin or thumbnails box near the relevant
location, although I have not tried this myself. I do like the notion of a
map interface, though, which makes it easy to discover photos at or near
your preferred location. Of course, there are a lot of georeferenced images
not on Google Maps, so it is by no means a complete solution; also depends
on Google's business model and future plans to keep the interface available
(and free to use).
Regards - Tony
