Second phase release of Lucid3 software for use in developing countries



The Centre for Biological Information Technology at The University of
Queensland has recently announced the second phase release of the Lucid3
interactive identification software for use in developing countries.



Lucid3 (see www.lucidcentral.org <http://www.lucidcentral.org/> ) is a
sophisticated and easy to use program for building and deploying interactive
identification and diagnostic keys for use in biology, ecology, quarantine,
biocontrol and agriculture. CBIT is able to provide a free copy of the
software and free support to institutions and individuals working in
developing countries.



If you would like to start developing interactive keys and think you are
eligible to receive a free copy of Lucid3, please register yourself
http://www.lucidcentral.org/register/ then e - mail Matt Taylor
(M.Taylor at cbit.uq.edu.au), with the following information -



*       The group(s) of organisms you initially plan to develop or convert
an identification key for
*       The main intended users of the key(s) (e.g. conservation workers,
para-taxonomists, invasive species monitoring teams, ecologists, teachers)
*       Details of any collaborators you intend to develop the key with



The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation have provided the funds for this
initiative.
