Full Professorship in Systematic Botany and Plant Geography

Department of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy (Institute of Biology) and
Central Facility Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum

Applications are invited for the tenured position of Managing Director of
the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum who will also be Full Professor of
Systematic Botany and Plant Geography at the department of Biology,
Chemistry, Pharmacy. The successful candidate will be required to provide
teaching and research in the said area.

In line with article 100 of the Higher Education Act of the land of Berlin
(Berliner Hochschulgesetz), a postdoctoral lecturing qualification
(Habilitation) or comparable qualifications for a teaching career in
higher education are required.

The successful candidate will have a proven excellent international
research profile in the field of Phytodiversity and teaching proficiency
in Systematic Botany. In addition the candidate should have relevant
experience in maintaining scientific collections and managing research
institutes as well as in securing external funding and in managing
externally funded projects. He or she will be also expected to collaborate
with colleges of other departments of the Freie Universität, especially
within the interdisciplinary research clusters. Furthermore, the candidate
should be involved in national and international research co-operations.

In general, the language of instruction will be German, but some
activities may be offered in English. A non-German speaking appointee will
be expected to be able to teach in German within two years.
