Hmmm... to a French speaker the 'r' in "jord" will not be audible - but it
does give a certain firm, explosive quality to the following 'd' whereas
the plain 'd' in "joood" would be soft and soggy.

As for Linnaeus, I vaguely recollect that the name was first adopted in its
latin form, and only later given a Swedish form.
