Subject: Biological technician positions at Sequoia and Kings Canyon
National Parks
Staff biologists at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are
currently recruiting a lead technician (GS-7, term) and up to six field
technicians (GS-6, temporary) to participate in a vegetation
classification and mapping project for the Parks.
The lead technician is responsible for training and supervision of up to
four field botanists and three interns in the collection of vegetation
data from plots located throughout Sequoia and Kings Canyon National
Parks. The lead technician is also responsible for computer entry and
management of vegetation plot data, quality assurance and control of
vascular plant identifications performed by the field crew, and
maintenance of field equipment. This is a term appointment, subject to
furlough, renewable up to 4 years, subject to continued availability of

The field technicians will be responsible for the establishment of
standardized vegetation plots, including data collection on species
composition, vegetation structure, and site characteristics under

Successful applicants will have demonstrated knowledge of vascular plant
identification in both field and laboratory settings, and be able to
