Good Morning, Ladies!
Christine, I do not think we have met, but I have served as a professional
developer on several Literacy Initiatives. Most of the proposals in my
files are for high schools. However, when I became certified in SIM, I was
an 8th grade Language Arts/Inclusion teacher in a large school in El Paso,
Texas. The first writing initiative was for that school. It was immensely
successful. We scored exemplary in all reading and writing areas for the
TEKS.
I believe I could be an effective collaborator in your task. I would
prefer to have a phone conversation to assist you with your proposal
because it is important to tailor it appropriately for the students and
teachers of the school you will be serving. You will probably
encounter several challenging questions concerning fidelity of
implementation in conjunction with curriculum requirements. I do not know
about your background, but if it is Sped, the LA teachers will possibly be
skeptical of teaching these strategies to ALL students.
If you think my experiences could prove valuable in your endeavor, contact
me, and we will set up a time to talk.
Sincerely,
Vicki
