Hello everyone and Happy Kansas Day!
At this point, I already imagine that everyone has fabulous syllabi for their classes that are fully compliant with syllabus requirements, etc. The tricky part that might stump some of you is that KU is requiring us to submit our syllabi to a very specific repository location-i.e. the "Simple Syllabus" site. Normally, the "Simple Syllabus" link would appear automatically in your Spring courses if you created a Canvas course. HOWEVER, if you, like me, copied your course from a previous version of the course, "Simple Syllabus" will NOT automatically appear as a navigation tab on the left.
If your Canvas page has a visible "Simple Syllabus" navigational tab on the left, all you have to do is click on it, and upload your doc/pdf version of your syllabus and then click "Publish" and you are done.
If "Simple Syllabus" is NOT visible on your Canvas site, you can make it appear. What you need to do is go into "Settings", and then click on the "Navigation" tab at the top, then scroll down till you find "Simple Syllabus." Click on the three dots and select "enable" and move the tab up to the visible tabs up at the top then click "Save". "Simple Syllabus" should appear as one of the navigation tabs on the left. Click on it, upload your syllabus, and then click 'Publish."
If you don't submit your syllabus to "Simple Syllabus"-regardless of how nicely it meets the requirements and is clearly available to your students-KU will be grumpy with you (and probably me).
If any of this doesn't make sense to you, please let me know. I will be happy to help you with it. There is also the harder way to submit it to Simple Syllabus, given in the instructions in the earlier email from John below.
"Simple Syllabus" or Bust!

Subject: [Pols-l] Required Syllabus Submission to Simple Syllabus by Feb 1, 2025
Hello,
The College has sent out another message to make sure that Spring 2025 Syllabi are posted to Simple Syllabus by Feb 1, 2025. This is related to the University Evaluation for HCLS review in March.
You have received several e-mails from the College and the University about using simple syllabus to create the syllabus with the required format and as a repository for the syllabi. If you have already created your Fall 24 and Spring 2025 syllabus on Simple Syllabus, then you are set. However, if you have not done so, then you can use the steps below upload your existing syllabus (Word.doc or PDF) and submit your syllabus directly to the repository.
The University and the College need to have all the Spring 2025 syllabus submitted by February 1 to meet the dead line for the HCLS review in March.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Take Care,
John
