Hello,

Welcome to Fall 23. I hope everyone is well and you had a safe, fun and possibly productive summer.

I am looking forward to this academic year. The department is doing well. This is the first semester with our new (lower) course number catalog change. I want to thank everyone for working with Kevin, Mike and I during that process. It went smoothly. We also have good enrollments for Fall, and I expect the same for Spring 24.

I want to welcome a new member of the department, Tom Ringenberg.  He is our new Associate Teaching Professor in the American subfield, and he is a great addition to the department. Tom officially starts this Fall. Hopefully everyone will get a chance to meet with Tom and welcome him early in the semester.

Finally, do not forget to mark September 30th on your calendar. We will have the annual POLS Picnic at the Winters School House on Saturday, September 30 from 4:00-6:00pm. Linda and I will provide more information and directions to the location in September.

If you have any questions regarding the department feel free to e-mail or come by my office. I am planning to be in my office during the week and my door is open.
