I am looking forward to this academic year. The department is doing well. This is the first semester with our new (lower) course number catalog change. I want to thank everyone for working with Kevin, Mike and I during that process. It went smoothly. We also
have good enrollments for Fall, and I expect the same for Spring 24. </div>

I want to welcome a new member of the department, Tom Ringenberg. He is our new Associate Teaching Professor in the American subfield, and he is a great addition to the department. Tom officially starts this Fall. Hopefully everyone will get a chance to meet
with Tom and welcome him early in the semester. <br>
