Hello All,
I hope everyone is staying safe out in this weather! Below are quick descriptions for the Workgroups this Friday. Also, please take note that Dr. Johnson will be hosting the semi-annual Git for Novices presentation this Friday at 3 p.m. More info below.
1) Bayesian Multi-Level Modeling Workgroup with Paul Johnson, CRMDA Director | 11 AM - 12 PM | Watson 455 Conference Room
Team members will continue working on Stan code assignments and catch up on Git version issues. Will look into problems in updating lecture notes (time permitting).
2) Python Text Analysis Workgroup with Jonathan Lamb, CRMDA Faculty Fellow | 1 - 2 PM | Watson 410A
This week is a Project Development Day. The group will review and help a student with their ongoing project. If you are interested in having your project reviewed and receive help from the group, please email group leader, Jon Lamb at jonathanplamb at ku.edu<mailto:jonathanplamb at ku.edu>.
The next Instructional Day for this group will be the following Friday, March 2nd.
The Python Workgroup has a Github repository<https://github.com/jonathanlamb/workgroup> where you can access the Jupyter Notebooks with which they're working with. Remember that to download the file correctly, you will need to right-click on "Raw" and click "Save Link As" (or the equivalent phrase in browsers other than Firefox). It is suggested that you save all of the Python files that are being used in the same folder on your computer.
Git Orientation for Beginners This Friday!
Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no fee and registration is not required. This event will offer an overview that is intended for novices. We assume people have a general idea about what they are trying to achieve with version management. We urge people who might like to attend to bring computers on which Git is installed. We have installation tips in our main Git overview document, "Git it Together," which is available from https://crmda.ku.edu/git-help.<https://crmda.ku.edu/git-help> We believe that novices who have Git installed will be able to follow along and fully participate for most of the presentation.
Presenter: Paul Johnson, CRMDA Director
Date: Friday, February 23rd
Time: 3-4 PM
Where: Watson Library room 455

This year we are offering a student discount! Take advantage of this offer by April 15th. New this year will be a workshop about using Python for data acquisition and analysis.
