Taxacom: Computer / electronic devices use in Ethanol (wet) Collections

Dear Taxacomers,

I'm seeking advice on the use of computers in modern design, wet (ethanol) collection rooms.

Our purpose-built ethanol collection rooms were built about 15 years ago, and are outfitted with sensors (for ethanol spills, flash / spark, humidity, and temperature), power outlets & data ports; they are protected by Inergen gas (fire retardant) system; and have vacuum sealed, external doors.

We have a "no electronic devices" in the wet collection policy; due to the ethanol, not the Inergen gas, as this is also used in the dry (pinned) Collection Rooms where computers, cameras and phones are permitted.

Are there any facilities that use computers in their wet Collection Rooms?

As mentioned above, ours were built with data ports and power outlets, so it begs the question , "why were they installed" if they were never meant to be used. Of course it could just be bad planning but knowing the people who worked on it, I don't think so.

As always, the groups assistance and expertise is greatly appreciated.
