Dear Colleagues,

I hope you all had a wonderful summer.

I am reaching out to request your assistance with an important aspect of my postdoc project. I am currently studying Hydroides elegans, an invasive biofouling tubeworm with a worldwide distribution. Unfortunately, due to bureaucratic challenges, we have not been able to obtain enough samples of this species, and I am urgently in need of more specimens.

This tubeworm is commonly found in ports of tropical and subtropical waters, particularly in shallow subtidal areas where it forms aggregations on artificial substrates such as ship hulls, piers, and aquaculture structures.

Given the diversity of locations covered by our group in Taxacom, your help would be invaluable in collecting these samples from your respective regions. If you are able to assist, please let me know if this species is present in your area and whether you could collect a few specimens. If you have already done sampling of biofouling species or in intertidal and subtidal areas, collecting this tubeworm should be straightforward. Please feel free to contact me at "smn.pazoki at hotmail.com" for detailed instructions on the collection process.

Additionally, if your institution’s collection includes specimens of this species that have been fixed and preserved in 96% ethanol, they would be ideal for our purposes.

Your support would significantly contribute to the success of this project, and I would be truly grateful for any assistance you can provide.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Sam.
