We use this form of the name in Mycology ... a Kingdom quite distinct from the green things called Plants and a close relative of the Animals - just adding a bit of clarity ...

Live long and prosper 😉 ... Paul

One further minor point is that Aus bus subsp. cus is really only used in botany, though unfortunately GBIF uses it across the board. In zoology, it is just Aus bus cus.

Just adding some clarity to this, as it is a bit of a worry that basic nomenclature seems to be widely poorly understood. The taxon in question is not "undescribed", it is currently just given the rank of subspecies. The crucial point that I want to make clear, though, is that if it is given full species rank, the authorship remains the same as when considered a subspecies, i.e. Steatoda concolor (di Caporiacco, 1933) Cheers, Stephen

 Dear Jan,
Steatoda concolor would be the correct name in such a case.

If this helps.

Best wishes
Francisco

The type specimen of S. triangulosa concolor is a subadult female, but comparison with newly collected adult material of that undescribed species makes this very clear. My question: should the new species be named Steatoda concolor then?
