Dear all,

My coauthor in an ongoing research project found out that Steatoda triangulosa subsp. concolor (di Caporiacco, 1933) is not a subspecies of S. triangulosa, but an as yet undescibed, different species of Steatoda. The type specimen of S. triangulosa concolor is a subadult female, but comparison with newly collected adult material of that undescribed species makes this very clear. My question: should the new species be named Steatoda concolor then?

Best regards,

Jan Bosselaers
