Taxonomist / Team Leader
The Seckenberg Ocean Species Alliance (SOSA) will develop a new unit to support the discovery and description of new marine species. Our vision is a service that will support global researchers to provide efficient, high quality data to support species descriptions, including imaging, DNA sequencing, microscopy and more.
You are an an experienced taxonomist (working on any group of organisms), an advocate for taxonomy, and love marine species. Working with us, you would
· serve as the creative force for the SOSA Discovery Team, pushing the cutting edge of taxonomic practice, and interface with scientists using the SOSA services (clients);
· hire and lead a team of three technicians
· work with other units of SOSA (conservation, public outreach), museum and external communications channels, including social media platforms, to provide public outreach.
Project Manager
This role supports all activities of SOSA: taxonomy, conservation, and outreach. You are extremely organised, proactive and communicative, love ocean life, and are fluent in both English and German.
Working with us, you would support the project leadership and institutional administration, work collaboratively with all SOSA teams, collaborators, and our external advisory groups; remind project leaders about (e.g.) reimbursement forms that they always forget to file; support our generous donors to engage with SOSA activities; support international visitors and contribute to international networking.
