Taxacom: A new genus described instead of making nomen nudum available

Dear colleagues,
I have another interesting case in my crustacean group. I hope you can
clarify my confusion.

*Birsteiniamysis* first mentioned in a book of abstracts (Tchindonova,
1979), without a reference to species and without description.

*Birsteiniamysis* gen.n. mentioned in Tchindonova (1981), with reference to
three species, without type species designation, without description.

The staff of the Zoogical Society of London (1985) noticed that no type
species was designated for *Birsteiniamysis*.

*Birsteiniamysis* gen.n. mentioned in Tchindonova (1993), with reference to
three species, with diagnosis, but without type species designation.

*Birsteiniamysis* Tchindonova, 1979 (or 1981) used by many authors as valid.

Petryashov (2014) mentioned *Birsteiniamysis inermis* (W.-Suhm, 1874) as
the type species of *Birsteiniamysis* Tchindonova, 1979, neither providing
a description, nor referring to Tchindonova (1993).

Hendrickx et al. (2020) do not consider Petryashev (2014) as valid
designator, and describe a new genus *Neobirsteiniamysis* Hendrickx &
Tchindonova, 2019 in Hendrickx et al. (2020) (without “gen. nov.”), with
the type species *Petalophthalmus inermis *Willemoes-Suhm, 1874. Only
online; not registered with Zoobank.

Hendrickx & Tchindonova (2020) correct themselves describing
*Neobirsteiniamysis* gen. nov., with the type species *Petalophthalmus
inermis *Willemoes-Suhm, 1875, and register it with Zoobank.

I would make Birsteiniamysis available, but why do the colleagues decide
otherwise? Is everything fine here, and people can do whatever they like?

Best wishes,
Mikhail Daneliya
