Hi Tony and Andy

Thanks for pointing this inconsistency.

Looking at additional biographies, what about the information provided in Orton 1896 (An account of the descendants of Tomas Orton of Windsor, Connecticut, 1641) stating (p.163) :

"Abigail [Orton], oldest daughter of Azariah (1761), was born in 1796 and died in 1879. I n 1825 she married Rev. Henry Porter Clark, of Washington, D.C. Their children are as follows :
Henry James, 1826 - 1873
Thomas Edward, 1828
Williams C., 1830-1865
Henry James Clark was one of the best zoologist this country has yet produced. He took his baccalaureate degree in the University of the City of New York in 1848 . For two years he taught in an academy at White Plains, New York . In 1850 he began the study of botany with Professor Asa Gray at Harvard but soon transformed his interest to zoology, under the elder Agassiz ..."

This also matches Irmschers (2013) biography of Agassiz (particularly pages here [ https://books.google.fr/books?id=0OGhZAuuljQC&pg=PA170 | https://books.google.fr/books?id=0OGhZAuuljQC&pg=PA170 ] )

In which cases, again, the patronym is "Clark" while the "James-Clark" usage still needs to be explained

sincerly

An "Aha!" moment perhaps... Heteromastix (genus) and Heteromastix proteiformis (species), both published in the sole work listed above that is under the authorship "Henry James Clark" (thus previously suggested by me to be treated as "Clark") are listed as "Heteromastix, Jas.-Clk." and "Heteromastix proteiformis, Jas.-Clk." by the author himself, in publication [5]. Thus, I feel that this justifies citing the authorship of all taxa by the author in question as James-Clark. Thoughts? Regards - Tony Rees
