[Taxacom] [iczn-list] Alleged New species of snake - junior synonym of species named 5 years ago - failure of alleged peer review (False allegations or inferences of backdating relevant first publication date of name by 5 years)

Take it easy Ray, you are showing your paranoid side. I made no such "inference"! I was simply anticipating that OTHER PEOPLE might try to disregard your publication by claiming that there was no proof that the stated publication date is correct. I pointed out that the fact that ION has indexed the publication means that it must have been published on or before the date on which it was indexed (though that date is perhaps only determinable indirectly). You've got enough enemies, I would have thought, without adding me to the long list. I won't be so petty as to ask an apology from you for false accusations against you!
Cheers,
Stephen

Stephen Thorpe,
your inference that the publication date of Hoser (2012)
naming three Stegonotus species has been somehow falsified
or maybe incorrect, is scandalous in the extreme on your
part and warrants an immediate apology by you.
I am not of the lying, thieving nature of Wolfgang Wuster
and his gang of thieves and would never stoop so low as to
falsify or backdate publication dates of anything I publish
as they have done!
For your benefit, HARD COPIES of the relevant issue of AJH
were sent and received by the major repositories (e.g.
Zoological Record) in April 2012, and pdfs of same placed
online a month later - all of which is readily confirmed by
anyone so inclined.
Significantly, in a non-peer reviewed publication by Kaiser,
Wuster and the rest of the gang in December 2012, these
unscientific morons and thieves cited and used the Hoser
2012 name and told their readers it was a non-species and
should not be used.
So even my enemies have confirmed the valid publication of
Hoser (2012), which predates the new name by five and a half
years..
Now just so you don't miss the unscientific Wuster gang
piece from 2012 (and nobody else does either), later
republished in March 2013, see,
Kaiser et al. 2013. Best Practices: In the 21st Century,
Taxonomic Decisions in
Herpetology are Acceptable Only When Supported by a Body
of Evidence and Published via Peer-Review, Herpetological
Review, 2013, 44(1), 8–23.
Or alternatively see the entries in their controlled
"The Reptile database" which also lists the Hoser
(2012) name as a synonym of Stegonotus diehli LINDHOLM, 1905
and has done so since at least 2013, easily confirmed by the
wayback machine or similar.
Of course none of these haters and liars have probably ever
set eyes on any Stegonotus, which strongly contrasts with my
position, having worked on and caught in the field,
specimens of various species since the early 1980's (so
what would I know about them?).
Therefore I am keenly awaiting your humble public apology
for such evil inferences against my good character.
Yours Faithfully
Raymond Hoser

Note that
publication dates can be falsified. However, I note that ION
does have Hoser's name (
http://www.organismnames.com/details.htm?lsid=4907976
). It would however be better if there was an easy way to
determine the date when ION added the name to their database
(maybe they give
sequential identifiers, so one could look to see what else
is around 4907976).

Walter,
in the first instance I didn't include
citations because
a "Google" search of the relevant
names brings up
the source papers.
However I have cited them in full
below to make them easier
for you to locate (again easiest via
Google).
Hope this makes it easier.
All the best

Dear Mr Hoser:
You would have strengthened your
letter if you included the
citations to your original paper and
that of Ruane, 2017.
Could you provide these citations.
Thank you,

Dear
all,
A new species, Stegonotus
melanolabiatus Ruane et al. 2017,
was published this week.
The authors and peer reviewers have
obviously missed the
fact that this is actually a synonym
of the previously
described Stegonotus adelynhoserae
Hoser, 2012.
The
published diagnosis of Stegonotus
melanolabiatus Ruane et
al, 2017, is effectively the same as
that of Hoser (2012).
Compare the diagnoses in the papers of
Hoser (2012) and
Ruane et al. (2017) (e.g.
subcaudals, apical pits,
distribution, etc) to confirm that
this new species is indeed a
subsequent synonym. I should
also note that Ruane et al. 2017 have
not cited the work of
Hoser, 2012 in their paper.
The
claim that peer review is essential
for taxonomic validity
is shown to be incorrect as in this
case peer review still
allowed the description of a new name
in synonymy as well as
well as not picking
up on the obvious failure of the
authors to investigate the
relevant scientific literature
adequately.
Yours
faithfully,
Raymond Hoser
