[Taxacom] Any suggestions of open source monitoring software/web sites that stores and makes available location images?

Out of interest, I checked the 1 km square where I did the field work for
my Ph.D. in freshwater ecology - quite a few images of the relevant lake
and its approaches... Maybe this system can work for relevant rural
locations, although the temporal aspect is not really handled e.g. to see
changes over time.
Example used: http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/SE26476649
