But "autonymic" and "tautonymic" apply to two different situations -- you quote, Mary, from the Code for the latter, but it is the former that Christopher Davis, Richard Zander, and Paul van Rijckevorsel are discussing (Art. 22.1 & 26.1) -- for which "autonymic" seems fine.  Cheers, John

The specific epithet, with or without the addition of a transcribed symbol, may not exactly repeat the generic name (a designation formed by such repetition is a tautonym).

I use tautonymic as an adjective when I need an adjective (e.g., the tautonymic subspecies). I have no idea where I picked that form up.

Dear Plant Taxonomists,

I would like clarification on the proper adjective(s) to use in describing the Autonym in taxonomical publications. I note that the adjective "nominate" has been preferred to the more general "nominal" when referring to the Nominotypical taxon in Zoology. Should either of these terms be used in botanical publications, and if not, does the adjective "autonymous"
exist and fulfill this role?
