[Taxacom] Pre-Linnaean botany

Slightly off-topic
In quoting the 'Species Plantarum', if the question is recast as pre-Linnaean nomenclature
rather than pre-Linnaean taxonomy, this leaves us in the interesting position where
pre-Linnaean work includes important books by Linnaeus himself.
In fact the most important pre-Linnaean books might well be by Linnaeus himself.
Some of his first thoughts on some subjects might be better in some ways than his later
thoughts of 1 May 1753, eg on the Cactaceae, or Cactus L, where he turned into a super
lumper, having been previously inclined to split.
