[Taxacom] Fwd: open access

The costs of making publications open access is but a few percent of the total cost of the research - a few thousand in a typical three year $250,000 to $500,000 research budget - the real issue is the impact factor as the only metric for determining a person 'worth' and thus career advancement.

I have no conflicts of interest - I care less than zero about my 'impact factor', I only care about my contribution to science.

So if you charge thousands of US dollars to publish one paper that will help them contribute?
