[Taxacom] The Doug Yanega Opinion

I tend to agree with Doug Yanega (and the remarks by Scott Thomson) that the Wikipedia entry on Ray Hoser conforms to the Wikipedia standards, but I would make a couple of points if I may:
Given the nature of Wikipedia (and that of it's eclectic band of compilers) completeness with any entry will always be an elusive dream, so it's to be expected that more could be said on any subject - in particular someone like Ray. I mean you could write books on him or probably any of the taxacom members for that matter, and still have plenty of room for revisions. So it couldn't be expected to be complete, and everyone should appreciate that - including Ray. But while the Wikipedia piece has obviously been constructed from (some of) the historical record, that defense cannot be used to make the argument that the piece is therefore an accurate and unbiased assessment of Ray Hoser and his work. Notwithstanding the fact that my own work and character have been similarly attacked with unjustified smear, and a calculated use of unscientific and unethical conduct by the very same individuals that Ray is complaining about, I find the piece about Ray Hoser to be little more than another hatchet-job that hides behind the trusting credibility of a third party. That the world's most prestigious scientific journal 'Nature', as well as some of the most renowned scientists in zoology have been hood-winked into jumping onto this bandwagon of suppression largely on the basis of a compilation of fear-porn formed by exaggerations, deliberate misrepresentations, and even outright lies by a relatively small band of conspirators with vested interests, is quite frankly more disturbing than anything that has been said or written by Ray Hoser. This is no place to meticulously dissect the Wikipedia entry on Ray Hoser or the behaviour of his detractors and I will not do that. But one has only to look at his own relatively vast published contributions that have not been anywhere near adequately quoted in relation to those of his detractors, and one is forced to ask why? And how can the Wikipedia piece on Ray Hoser profess to include any credible discussion on Ray Hoser's allegations against corrupt public servants and the like when it fails to also mention the fact that repeated Government Inquiries have either confirmed his allegations and/or resulted in major court actions that have also vindicated his claims? Yes, the Wikipedia piece has much fact on Ray Hoser, and although a very entertaining read, it also shows much skill to the uninitiated in how the creeping extent of intellectual suppression can manifest itself. From what I can see a gaggle of self-appointed gate-keepers of taxonomy are now even attempting the perversion of the Rules of the Code of Zoological Nomenclature to achieve their ends by publishing and promoting the standards proffered in the Kaiser et al paper, and virtually nothing is being done about it by the Commissioners of the ICZN ! And some have the gaul to treat us as taxonomic vandals - with one 'learned scholar' even having the nerve to claim that I was "the AIDS of Zoology". But it's not me with a disease, although I may have the cure...
In any case thank you for your time in considering my opinion,
Richard Wells

>
> It says something when a taxonomist has to waste valuable time and money to get lawyers involved to stop a campaign of hatred directed not just against myself, but also my wife and kids, who Wuster himself supported getting unlawfully arrested at gunpoint at their primary school, noting that this was a course of action backed by Wuster that a pair of Supreme Court judges condemned in a judgement on 8 June last year!
>
> I am not alone as a victim of Wuster?s mental instability and actions against national laws, and we'll ignore the several women who have complained about sexual harassment by him at Bangor University, but instead refer to his long-running contempt for the rules of zoology, which happens to be the very topic of this forum and after all, it is best to remain on topic! Last year, US Tortoise taxonomist Bill McCord also had to get lawyers onto Wuster and sidekick, Hinrich Kaiser, from the creationist theory teaching institution called ?Victor Valley College?, when Wuster and Kaiser made repeated baseless claims to a global audience against McCord?s taxonomy. These being his usual assertions of taxonomic vandalism, unscientific papers and the like, all for the purpose of setting himself up to steal naming rights for the large number of taxa formally described and named by McCord and several associates of his. All this, so that Wolfgang Wuster himself could put his mates names on species as patronyms previously named by others under the code.
>
> I could go on about the reckless and dangerous conduct of Wuster, itself a serious threat to the integrity of the work of all living and dead taxonomists. But perhaps those interested in the dangerous tactics of the obsessive and mentally unstable Wuster, and who would prefer the cold hard facts, rather than a funny Youtube parody, then these people should take a read here:
