Wikipedia plant editors make considerable use of USDA GRIN, which has combined various lists of common names, emphasizing English, but not exclusively. It seems quite independently derived from Michel Porcher's site. It's also shut down at present.
For example, google's archive of the GRIN entry for Abutilon megapotamicum
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:WL7cGD65rq4J:www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl/family.pl%3F751+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca
omits the Japanese names, has three more in Portuguese, and one in German.
