Yes, have a look at WoRMS

there are also a number of RSS feeds available that notify you about taxon
additions, distribution additions etc..

Individual sub-databases have the same features:

Each page additionally provides a preformatted reference for citing.

Several years ago I read an article about evaluating contributions to
collaborative data building projects in which the authors commented that
what was needed was the ability to generate a dynamic report of all an
individual's contributions to its improvement (new data, corrections,
images, specimen records, images, references, pdfs come to minds) and show
how these compared to the contributions of others and the overall database.
Does anyone know of a database, taxonomic or otherwise, that has implemented
such features?
