* and it's not just botanical Latin, I tried to cycle a motto that I 
thought might be usefully latinized:

Those who construct and maintain roads are responsible for understanding
and minimizing the ecological damage that the roads cause.

Qui defendet accuratius vias prudentiae respondebunt, obscuratis 
fringilla ut viae damnum causa.

Who will defend more carefully the ways of prudence shall answer, 
fringilla as the paths to minimize the damage cause.

* oops, where did the roads and the ecology go? You'd think that 
"Fringilla" (wherever it came from) would be easily englished as 
"Chaffinch."
