[Taxacom] Two new posts in Grass Taxonomy/Systematics at Royal Botanic Gardens Kew

A reminder about two new permanent posts in Grass Taxonomy/Systematics at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew for which we are currently accepting applications:

SENIOR RESEARCHER IN GRASSES
Main duties: 
* manage, undertake and further develop a world-class programme of research in grass taxonomy and systematics, writing up the research in high quality publications;
* manage the curation of the Grasses collections in the Herbarium;
* maintain and develop collaborations within Kew and at national and international levels;
* seek external funding for projects and supervise postgrads and postdocs;
* undertake collaborative fieldwork to improve collections and obtain material for research;
* undertake teaching on Kew and external courses and participate in international confrences;
* line-manage staff.
Essential requirements:
*  PhD in plant science; 
*  Expertise in plant taxonomy/systematics, especially in grasses or related groups; 
*  Knowledge of methods of taxonomic data analysis including cladistic and/or phenetic methods; 
*  Experience of using herbarium collections in research; 
*  Fieldwork experience; 
*  Experience of writing grant proposals. 


GRASS TAXONOMIST
Main duties:
* manage GrassBase (Kew's online world Grass Flora), including data entry and updates, integrity checks and development of the website;
* undertake floristic and monographic research on the taxonomy of grasses primarily using the herbarium collections, writing up the research in high quality publications;
* identify and name of dried and living material of grasses and related families;
* undertake collaborative fieldwork to improve collections and obtain herbarium and DNA material for research;
* undertake teaching on Kew courses and participate in international conferences;
* line-manage staff.
Essential requirements:
*  MSc in plant science or minimum 2 years of equivalent experience; 
*  Experience of managing and working with biological databases; 
*  Experience in plant taxonomy/systematics.
