It would be typical on a wiki for a contributor to copy-and-paste a list of 
species names from somewhere, and present it as information on a genus.

It looks to me that this is related to a mindset which does not recognize
any such thing as a science of taxonomy. What is out there is God's creation, 
and a list of species is the way to know God's creation; the list must be true,
as 1) it is on the internet (or in a book) and 2) otherwise God would intervene. 
As the contributor is dealing with the One Truth, there is no need to attribute 
anything ...

Simple, once you recognize it.
