For those interested in the latest on this perennial question the
following articles have appeared in BioEssays. Stoneking's article is of
particular interest in accusing editors of being irresponsible.

I recall that at least one person on this list thought they could
publish a knockout blow to the non-molecular evidence. Stoneking did
