Dear Colleagues,
we all are concerned of the negative and obstructive impacts a possible
ABS regime might have on research. The Science Community is not alone
with that, also in my own Biocontrol Community these effects already
materialized.
As a co-author, I am happy to be able to inform you that an FAO
Background Study is now available examining some effects and the current
practices of the exchange of the biocontrol agents. I am sure this is
also interesting for you. A shortened version will be out in the
journal Biocontrol soon (already accepted).
The study is available from me as PDF, or directly from the FAO website
ftp://ftp.fao.org/docrep/fao/meeting/017/ak569e.pdf
What I could hear is that this study was very warmly welcomed by the
12th regular Session (highest ranking meeting) of the CGRFA this October.
Best
Fabian Haas
