[Taxacom] Molecular identification of a plant rootlet

Dear Taxacomers:

 

Are there any of you who have a molecular lab and are able to identify a dried rootlet (eastern Canadian source) at least to genus using sequence data? The rootlet is possibly a conferous and it will have one, or more, fungal associates. Therefore a primer specific to plants not involving chloroplasts would be needed to identify it. There are other complications I could explain to any interested party. A fungus was firmly affixed to the living rootlet and I would like to identify its host, but only a few centimeters of the rootlet could be reliably traced amongst a tangle of roots. There is only one sample at this time.
