Hi Jim,
     Oh, I wasn't being cynical about using the internet to quickly
track diseases.  That is a fine idea, and someday it could save a lot of
lives (especially when we have something really serious, like a bird flu
pandemic).    My cynicism is like yours, about self-indulgent, wasteful
humans destroying the environment (and abusing every technological
advance humanity has made, especially since the beginning of the
Industrial Revolution).
