[Taxacom] Developer position in Berlin, Germany

"EDIT - Towards a European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy" (EU Network of Excellence of major taxonomic institutions - a 5-year project). 

The Department of Biodiversity Informatics at the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem, Freie Universität Berlin has an immediate opening for a Software Developer - German federal salary level BAT IIa/Ib i.d.F.d.Anw.-TV FUB (Scientist/Senior Scientist).

Main tasks & responsibilities: Application development for the EDIT project, based on the Common Data Model object database, and using the Java Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) and the Drupal CMS (PHP) for frontend development. Prerequisites: The candidate must have a university degree, proven development skills, and good English communication skills. 
Desirable: Experience with object-oriented modelling, Java programming, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, JAXB & XML, Drupal, and database development. 
A familiarity with systematic biology as well as experience collaborating in a transnational development project is also advantageous. The candidate should have a willingness to work in and adapt to a complex subject area.

Biodiversity Informatics deals with a highly complex information domain and has direct relevance to some of the most urgent problems of global change and loss of biodiversity. The BDI Department at the BGBM is one of the leaders in this fast-growing field.
