[Taxacom] Max Planck Society cancels 1,200 Springer journals

My assumption would be that for many of these journals they would 
have nothing to publish if they discriminated against NIH funded 
research.  Power in numbers and all that.  Losing high impact papers 
to journals with more tolerant policies would be the result. Lets 
hope this makes it to the final appropriations bill which right now 
is tied up in wrangling with the prez.  Lobbyists for the big 
publishers will, unfortunately, have lots of time to pressure the 
committee to drop this requirement from the final bill.
