rather than debate on what delible or indelible means, what is
mechanical or graphical, what other reproduction methods are acceptable
or not acceptable just accept publications of this type before 1953 as
effectively published and if problems arise in the area of 'This Code
aims at the provision of a stable method of naming taxonomic groups ...
[Preamble]' use rejection, conservation or App. VI to sort out the
problems. We could debate at length what is meant in the Code by
'printed' but we do not ... I hope ... ;-)

I have been studying Art. 30 of the ICBN where there is talk of
indelible autograph. I have the impression from Art. 30.2 this means
using ink as in printing "reproduced by mechanical or graphic process
(such as lithography, offset, or metallic etching)". What would delible
autograph be? Pencil? OK. Fountain pen? In school kits here they have a
kind of felt tip pen that removes ballpoint ink. In my time we used
diluted household bleach. When is ink indelible?

What is the printer of choice these days for labels and annotations?
About
10-15 years ago, an inkjet Lexmark was recommended because the black ink
was indelible.

Thank you.
