Starting August 2007, two M.Sc. research assistantships will be available to participate in a NSF-funded project on the
systematics of Neotropical Exophthalmus weevils and related genera (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae). Successful
applicants will work on either morphological or molecular phylogenetics and conduct field work in Puerto Rico and other
Caribbean islands. The project is located at the Biology Department of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez
(http://biology.uprm.edu/) – an excellent setting for studying tropical biology.

Each assistantship will be granted for 24 months, and includes a monthly stipend, tuition costs, health insurance, and
other miscellaneous fees. Applicants should send a statement of interest and curriculum vitae to: franz at uprm.edu.
Previous experience in morphological and/or molecular insect systematics is preferred, and some proficiency in Spanish
or a willingness to learn is desirable.
