[Taxacom] Ferret introduction "war" begins in Kansas

Dear All,
     The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plan an event in Oakley, Logan 
County, Kansas, on November 28th, concerning reintroducing the endangered 
black-footed ferret back into Kansas.  But Logan County authorities brought 
in exterminators who began spreading poison to kill prairie dogs last 
weekend (the timing leaving little doubt that they want to scuttle the 
planned ferret program before it gets started).  As the following news 
article relates, Haverfield has attempted to prevent poison application on 
his land by scattering cattle over his ranch, since it is illegal to apply 
poison on areas where cattle are grazing.  Don't know how this is going to 
play out, but the war has begun in earnest.  Here is a link to the original
