The following vacancy at the Natural History Museum is posted on behalf of Sandy Knapp, Dept. of Botany.

Public Outreach Researcher
(2 year rolling contract)
up to £ 25,700
The Natural History Museum is one of the world's leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in scientific research and as a leading exponent in the presentation of natural history to the general public through exhibitions, public programmes and the web.
An opportunity has arisen to take part in the public outreach component of the internationally collaborative project "High Quality Solanaceous Crops for Consumers, Processors and Producers by Exploration of Natural Biodiversity" (EU-SOL).
As a part of a large cross-institutional team, you will be working with other partners in this EU-funded project to develop the communications strategy for the project. You will also be responsible for researching, writing and providing content for the project website on the history and development of solanaceous crops (potato, tomato, aubergine and minor crops) and will be working with the team responsible for the design and enabling of the project website. The post will include working with the bioinformatics team (based in Cologne, Germany) in order to link datasets and to provide a public forum for the discussion of project research.
To be successful you must have a degree in biology or a related subject or equivalent experience. A qualification in IT and the ability to speak another European language are desirable.
