This isn't a tracking program. GeoCalc from GeoComp simply interconverts
position formats. It does this accurately and simply for anywhere on the
planet, one location at a time or batchwise, and has great help files.

Doug Yanega's enthusiasm for Google Earth is shared by the kids at my local
high school. What a great way to learn geography!

Australians have another way to do what Doug does. In March 2005 the
Australian Greenhouse Office released a free DVD with 5 Landsat coverages of
the whole of Australia, from 1972 to 2004. The coverages are stitched
together fairly seamlessly and georegistered, and you can fade from one
year-set to another. The coverages are viewed with a data viewer installable
from the DVD. The viewer is linked on the DVD to a detailed gazeteer,
climate information and "paper map" images for teh geographically
challenged. This is a wonderful free giveaway, available through
http://www.greenhouse.gov.au/ncas. Landsat resolution isn't the best, but
I've used it a la Doug Yanega at 1:75000 for locating collecting sites.
