A paper describing the Taxonomic Search Engine
(http://darwin.zoology.gla.ac.uk/~rpage/portal/ ) has been published in
the open access journal BMC Bioinformatics
(http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2105/6/48/abstract ). Given a
taxonomic name the search engine queries five databases and summarises
the results. It's really "proof of concept" at this stage, but I hope
to add additional databases, and speed up the search in the coming
months.
