Major Duties:
Incumbent provides support for the Research Leader in the area of insect
systematics. Organizes research for specific problems, records observations
and data for final evaluation, and prepares reports. Prepares specimens for
identification, observation, and study including labeling, dissecting and
mounting genitalia and other body parts on microscope slides or pins.
Prepares plates for publication using current software and various
photographic techniques, including digital photography. Curates the section
for which responsible, including sorting and incorporating unidentified
material into family, subfamily, genera, and/or species. Identifies,
locates, and prepares material for loans from the Collection and
incorporates returned loans or research material into the Collection.
Organizes and conducts database entry of information associated with
specimens and bibliographic research. Identifies and collects specimens in
the field, particularly target pest species.
