I think heat fixes India Ink because a drying oil (patchouli is mentioned in
the literature) is in the emulsion.

Yes, that is standard. When I write with India Ink, I put the label
on top of a 60 watt bulb for about 3-5 seconds. This fixes it better
than room-temp drying.
